About this course
Through this subject, Freshmen could learn more about how to adjust themselves with the University life, and cope with the transition phase. In their first year as freshmen, student might experience 5 stages of adjustment, or something that we might know as W-shaped adjustment model. These 5 stages are honeymoon phase, culture shock phase, initial adjustment phase, mental isolation phase and acceptance and integration phase.
By understanding these phases, freshmen are expected to have clearer perspectives on their future journey as university student and able to maximise their potential throughout the process. To help students to prepare this journey, freshmen will explore their personality and their weaknesses and strengths.
This subject also gives basic knowledge about student’s organization and supporting centre in campus as an important part of their ecosystem that might help them to grow during their study period.
Learning Objectives:
- Freshmen are able to recognize their roles and responsibilities as university students.
- Freshmen are able to identify the phases of adjustment in becoming a university student.
- Freshmen are able to identify the various centers/units which will serve as resources and support centers for students.
What you will learn
In this session Freshmen will get information about how to recognizing self and understanding their own weaknesses and strengths. REMINDER: Freshmen have to completed this session before join the VICON session.
